It's a good idea to have at least one fireproof safe in the house to store our jewelry ,important document and passports. Mum had this habit of wrapping her jewelry in plastic bags and hiding them at nook and corner in the house. She felt that this is foolproof until one fine day she found her diamond earring, bracelet and some other items missing from her pink polyethylene bag which was hidden behind a bed frame. Fortunately for her, the maid returned the items. She now owns a mid size Bumil safe and enjoys peace of mind on having a central and safe location to store her valuables.
Safes come in dial lock and electronic / digital keypad lock. The electronic /digital lock is easy and convenient to operate. However, it relies on battery to operate. To avoid being lock out when the batteries run out, it's best to choose safe that install the battery outside the safe or safe that come with a master key. A master key will allow you to open the safe even when the battery is flat. We need not worry about battery for dial lock but it requires more time and patience as we need to turn the dial accurately. Being "electronic free", it's durable. My Diplomat Dial lock safe is still serving us well after more than 12 years.
